Staterooms
They are offered at Guy’s Pig and Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse (Brewhouse), The names of the new draft beers are inspired by the BBQ offerings at the Smokehouse/Brewhouse. One thing to note is that many of these restaurants sit on the lanai (the outdoor walkway around the ship) on deck 5, which means you can sit outside and dine al fresco. Ropes Course + SkyRideOn the top of the ship are two things to do that are perfect for those who want a little thrill. The first is a ropes course where you strap into a harness and make your way over different walkways from platform to platform. It’s great for kids, but honestly anyone would have fun doing this. It’s a physical challenge and you can also get an idea for how high above the sea you are when you stand atop the platforms.

The first Vista-class ship was Carnival Vista, which premiered in 2016. Carnival Vista was known for several new features, including the SkyRide (which you can read about further down) and the first IMAX theater at sea. There were also new Cuban-themed staterooms, as well as more entertainment options than ever before.
Cove balconies sit below hanging lifeboats and above ocean-view cabins, meaning guests in staterooms with cove balconies enjoy an added level of privacy, as no one can see onto the balcony from either above or below. Additionally, the balcony railings are enclosed, to prevent interruptions from either side. Because of all this privacy, the balconies are often more quiet, as well as larger.
The artwork is rotating, with patterns based on daytime, cruise port of call or special occasion. By gross tonnage/volume, VISTA-class are currently the largest Carnival ships. Carnival Horizon passengers tend to be a fun-loving group hailing from all over the world -- but especially the United States. When it’s time to board, just show your pass, walk through security and get on the ship. SkyRide is a bit like riding a bike — you’ll never forget it. But SkyRide is also completely unlike riding a bike, because when was the last time you biked around a ship, high above the deck and even higher above the sparkling blue sea? Zip safely around our two-lane suspended course in a pedal-powered go-mobile, in search of your biggest racing victory, a lower-body workout… or simply the greatest view.
Of course, when you have such brand-new outdoor entertainment options on a cruise ship, you can’t miss a chance to try them out. Bookville is packed with multiple copies of every title from Dr. Seuss, and it's decorated with bright colors and large murals of the author's most-famous characters. Seating is on chairs and beanbags and ottomans of every size and shape. It's not uncommon to find parents reading to their children from The Lorax or Fox in Socks, here, or during hosted story time. Carnival Horizon has enough recreation options to keep you busy for weeks -- or at least a weeklong cruise.
Another pool is on Deck 10 at the rear of the ship, with two hot tubs. The Havana Pool is open to Havana cabin passengers only, and is likewise open to those ages 12 and up only. Unfortunately, there’s not technically a kids-only pool, but there is the kid-centric waterpark. The ropes course provides similar big-time views, but from the safety of a harness, as you test your climbing and flying skills. Adults will love the quiet oasis that is Serenity, with its hammocks, cocktails and great views.
Additionally, Carnival Panorama offers 18 tropics-inspired staterooms situated within the well-known Havana section. Located aft on Decks 6-8-9, the Havana staterooms offer exclusive access to the Havana Deck which has a Cuban-themed bar and swimming pool. It also has a lot of options for shade, as much of it is covered by the overhang from Deck 12\. At the rear, overlooking the Tides Pool, are even more loungers along with umbrellas. Carnival Horizon's wide variety of bars and lounges means the ship is rocking well into the night. Many of the bars are packed after dinner, but finding seats is rarely a problem because passengers naturally gravitate to their favorites, spreading the crowds across multiple venues. Every space is fun, but the vibe -- and beverage offerings -- at each is refreshingly different.
The main draw are two large waterslides, although there are a number of smaller water features for those who want to get wet. Just one thing to note is that your child must be potty trained (and out of diapers) to play. Carnival Horizon has definitely put an end to that conception.
On September 22, 2018, the Horizon continues to its next USA homeport Miami, for a year-round schedule of 6- and 8-night Caribbean itineraries.
